Driver Requirements

Cancellations must provide a minimum of 48 hours notice or the full hire price will be retained.
£50 card deposit. (Refundable once vehicle has been checked, confirmed with no faults and fuel is back to the supplied level – refunds normally take 3-5 working days but can take up to 10 working days depending on the bank).

Age & licence restrictions;

Held licence for a minimum 2 years

  1. Cars & Vans
    a. 21-22, no endorsements
    b. 23-24, one minor conviction in the last 5 years
    c. 25-69 (75 for cars), more than 6 points insurance referral
  2.  Minibus
    a. 25-69 minimum category D1 entitlement for minibuses, more than 6 points insurance referral (UK residents only, normal EEC licence holders only)

What information do I need to bring?

  1. Drivers Licence (check it’s in date 4a on photo licence)
  2. Debit/Credit Card
  3. 2 forms of further ID separate from your Licence;Passport, utility bill or official letter (This does not include security passes or bank cards)
  4. Lastly a unique driver’s code please read the gov.uk information

Hiring a vehicle: how to prove your driving record after 8 June 2015

From 8 June 2015, you may wish to check with the hire company what they need to see when you hire a vehicle. If you’re asked for evidence of what vehicles you can drive or confirmation of any penalty points, you can request a unique code from GOV.UK which allows you to share your driving licence details or you can download a summary of your driving licence record. The code is valid for 21 days which can then be redeemed just once by the third party to make the relevant checks.

If you cannot generate a code online then you can call 0300 083 0013 and DVLA will provide you with a code.

Alternatively, you can call DVLA on 0300 790 6801 and leave permission for your driving record to be checked verbally by a nominated hire company. This also applies if you have a paper licence that was issued before 1998.
